1. Let go of regrets! Easier said than done, but dwelling in the past will not serve you. Acknowledge your regret, and then, let it go. As Oprah would say- when you know better, you do better!
2. Go on a mental detox:
Try going a whole day without thinking negative thoughts. When you feel a negative emotion observe yourself as though in third person. Don’t judge yourself, but certainly don’t dwell or act upon the negative.
3. Keep a gratitude journal:
A book where you jot down on a daily basis, all the nice things that have happen to you, all the compliments you’ve received and everything you’re grateful for. Alternatively, you could always
think
of 3 nice things that have happened to you each day before you go to bed. But jotting it down allows you to look it over later.
4. Practice positive thinking and creative visualization:
Not to go all “The Secret” on you but making affirmations to yourself that everything is going well, and will improve, has been proven to put you in a more in-control state. Creatively visualizing / imagining how things are going to turn out as you want them to increases the odds of the same happening.
5. Keep at it!
Like everything else, positive thinking too, takes practice, to make it a way of life. So hang in there, and keep at it!
